Mood Board

Image
This mood board is for our horror movie opening that takes place in a house. The reason that there is a picture of someone behind a girl secretly is because that’s what the movie is going to be based around. The mysterious ambiance that this mood board has is what my partner and I are hoping to portray in our film opening.

Ideas for Opening Sequence Final

Image
For our project, we are set on doing a horror opening. The idea for our video is that there is going to be a couple of friends at a house and the people end up leaving later in the night. During their hangout, the girl that lives there is going to emphasize the fact that she is home alone and the only people there are the people she invited over. The girl is going to go to bed and ask them to close the garage or door on their way out. When they are leaving they are going to forget to do it and she is going to go to her bedroom. After a little bit, she is going to go to her kitchen and start cooking food for herself where there is going to be a person dressed in black that she doesn't register is in her house. The next sequences are going to show this figure going around the house when she isn't looking. We are still deciding on what to do for the middle and end of the video, but that is the route we are planning on going.

Opening Film Sequences

Image
My partner and I are deciding to go more of a horror route with our end of year project. We started watching a couple of the opening sequences of different ones such as "Evil Dead Rise", "The Nun", and "The Conjuring". In all of these there is a common theme in all of them. The common theme is that the movies would start off showing events from the past or right before a big moment and begin explaining the main problem in the movie.  For example, in the beginning of "Evil Dead Rise", the opening shows a couple that are on a camping trip. During this trip, the woman gets possessed by a demon and ends up killing the man. After this sequence, they show the title of the film.  These opening scenes that begin these movies are used as a way to give a backstory or preliminary idea of what the movie is about and possibly starts giving the audience ideas on what is going to happen further in the movie. ...

Developing a case study - Editing

Image
The movie opening I chose is from Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which was in July 2009.  The first scene shows an invisible cut with clouds in the sky and the eye of Harry Potter. This cut brings the viewers to the time where Harry potter is getting his picture taken by multiple photographers.   The second frame I chose is a point of view shot from Harry's perspective. This shows us the amount of photographers. The way that they are all crowded together and there is no open space around them helps the viewers understand the claustrophobia due to the amount of people. This can also be shown when the cameras are flashing in his face when we see a close up of him dissolving quickly to a white frame, portraying the flash from the cameras.  The third frame shows the full picture of what these cameras are photographing, Dumbledore and Harry Potter standing next to each other. This frame slowly starts zooming in on one of the characters. The way that Dumbledore is stand...
